Families within Community

The House structure allows a vertical and gender supportive pastoral care structure that ensures strong relationships between students and staff and plays a pivotal role in the development of our students. The Houses become a family within a community, and give opportunities for closer relationships, mentoring and the expression of our College ethos, values and faith.

Stucture

Each student belongs to one of 4 Houses (Lions, Roses, Scholars and Lanterns).Students begin every day in their House Home Room Group (gender based) under the leadership of their Homeroom Teacher. Every three weeks House Meetings are held. The vertical structure ensures that each girl and boy develops an understanding of community at Al Sadiq College. The Homerooms provide an avenue for mentoring, communication about the life of the community, and are vehicles for developing and building school spirit.

Each House is led by a Head of House who supports the pastoral, social, emotional, and academic wellbeing of students. Heads of House provide a point of contact for teachers and for parents. Students remain in the same House for the length of their schooling at the College; this enabling the Head of House and parents’ greater opportunity to build strong relationships and communication between home and school.

House Competitions

The annual House Cup competition fosters engagement, connection, and enrichment, offering sporting, cultural, creative and other activities through which students can represent their House. Competition ranges across all areas of co-curricular (sport, creative and performing arts), as well as academic events.
